Valentine’s Day is just around the corner. A day of love.
But why celebrate for one day when you can stretch it all week? And why spend £40 on a night out when all you need is a £4.99 Netflix subscription?
I’ll have you reminiscing about your teenage crushes and the do’s and don’ts of dating. I’ll even get you down the aisle and help you survive meeting the in-laws.
So sit back and relax with this lineup of lovable films to watch all week.
Monday – Dirty Dancing (1987)
Start the week with a classic. This is the film of all holiday flings. It captures being a teenager, rebelling from your parents and falling in love for the first time. Plus, it has an awesome soundtrack to dance those Monday blues away.
Tuesday – He’s just not that into you (2009)
For Valentine’s Day, this film will have you remembering how tricky dating can be. Follow this all-star cast of Scarlett Johansson, Jennifer Aniston, Bradley Cooper, Ben Affleck and Drew Barrymore through their romantic ups and downs. These range from hilarious and awkward to hopeful. Whether you’re spending Valentine’s Day on your own, with friends or in a couple, it has something for everyone, and enough laughs to go around.
Wednesday – Set it up (2008)
Here’s to keeping the love alive even after Valentine’s Day. This film is for those who still believe in going into the office or cheer for workplace romances. The movie is about two overworked assistants. They scheme to get their horrible bosses off their backs by setting them up on a date. Their perfect plot leads to a pairing they didn’t expect. It’s a tribute to anyone who’s ever had to deal with a crazy boss. Just the film to get you over that mid-week hump.
Thursday – Always be my maybe (2019)
Perhaps you have more of a soft spot for friends falling in love? After years of being friends, Marcus and Sasha reunite years later. They reconnect and see if sparks fly this time. Featuring Ali Wong and Randall Park, two comedic powerhouses, they take us on a charming and chucklesome ride.
Friday – Sex and the city: the movie (2008)
You’ve made it to the weekend! After bingeing all week on movies about love-struck teenagers, dating disasters, office hook-ups and flirty friends, it’s time to finally walk down the aisle. Well, not quite for Carrie. We follow this notorious New Yorker and her friends whose antics were first captured in the TV series. The film picks up where the series left off. It’s about being knocked down but somehow finding love again.
Saturday – Trust (2021)
After a string of rom-coms, we thought we’d switch things up with this Saturday drama. A young couple facing jealousy and temptation decide to test their marriage. The film should come with a warning though: don’t try this at home, folks!
Sunday – You People (2022)
Every strong marriage and relationship has to survive meeting the in-laws. Trending on Netflix, this film, we’ll be honest, isn’t for everyone. It’s a fairly cliché movie about culture clashes when two families meet. It’s a disappointing version of Guess Who, which was a disappointing version of Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner. But as it’s Sunday, you’re probably not looking for anything Oscar-worthy. Just something to distract you from the fact that tomorrow is Monday. Otherwise, you can always switch to watching Meet the parents (2000).
However you decide to spend your week, have a Happy Valentine’s!
Always be my maybe!!!!! Such a favorite
It was your recommendation Lady S! There were so many to choose from but it had to make the list!
